4 Real Food Snacks On-the-Go | LärabarWednesday, August 10, 2016
I have been doing a little taste testing this week and wanted to share with you all what I've discovered, but first can we talk about how my four year old will be going to school FIVE days a week this year and I will be the one taking him everyday? I still have another year before taking him to public school at some ungodly hour like 7:30, but I KNOW that I will still struggle with the 8:20 drop off this year. At least most days I won't have to be "work ready" since most mornings I am at home working. I have to admit this summer has been pretty great, even though some days Ezra wakes up early, we can usually get a pretty slow start.
Is it okay to dress my kids in school clothes the night before? I mean they don't REALLY get dirty while they sleep right? I'll just make them stand in the bathroom while I take a hot shower to get the wrinkles out of their clothes. Now, that we have that figured out, I need to talk about breakfast.
We are a grab and go family, no one is really ready to eat the moment they get up around here, so we are usually throwing squeeze pouches, cereal bars, and cups of milk in my bag to head to the car. I spend the drive handing and taking breakfast from my kids in the backseat. Come to think of it, I need to come up with some kind of better system for that in the next week or so.
Speaking of eating on the go, even though I work from home, I feel like I'm in my car more now than ever. So, while I'm trying to be healthier and treat my body and mind better, it's hard to make real food in my purse. I totally blew it when I was out of town last week and felt more tired than I have in a month. Doing a cleanse last month really taught me a lot about how much what you eat affects your energy levels and I've promised myself I'd do better. So, when I got the chance to partner with Lärabar and Sam's Club (where you can buy a big variety box of Lärabar, plus the Lärabar Bites), I jumped at the opportunity.
These bars have 6 ingredients or less and allow me to have REAL food on the go. The fruit and nuts make them yummy, I think my favorite so far is the Apple Pie and if you are looking for something where the ingredients are stripped down to the basics, Lärabar is where it's at! Healthy, inexpensive, and full of good flavor - it's a win for everybody.
I might not make it to school on time with everyone's hair brushed but we will have a nutritious snack available when we need it.
Oh and before you go, please tell me that when you are putting your groceries in your car, you find something to snack on on the way home... no? just me?
