"Sure Charlie Brown, I can tell you what Christmas is all about." #HallmarkThursday, November 12, 2015
When I walked in Hallmark the other night, I was overwhelmed by all the things I wanted. We have a long standing relationship with Hallmark since my Mother-In-Law is a bit of an ornament collector. Since my husband was a kid, Hallmark ornaments have been very much a part of his Christmas traditions and now ours too. While I am not going to talk too much about keepsake ornaments today, just know that if you want a special gift to commemorate a year in someone's life, they are so perfect for that. I absolutely treasure ours and get goosebumps thinking about pulling them out one by one and adding them to our tree. My favorite part of Christmas decorating is the memories I get to relive by unwrapping our ornaments each year.
We haven't quite started decorating for Christmas yet at our house, mostly because we've been too busy, but I did pick up these precious Peanuts at Hallmark and make a little display for the kids with the peanuts book. At Halloween, I introduced Jonah to The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and he's been loving on a Snoopy at my mom's house for a while.
The funny thing about that is, there are so many stories of my husband and his "babies" he loved as a small child. One of these stories includes a Snoopy whose hand was held and rubbed so many days and nights that it just fell right off. How special is it to have something we loved as babies be something our babies love? So, Peanuts it is for the kid's Christmas decor (not that I don't not-so-secretly love them)!
See the kids discovering this singing trio for the first time:
Playing with these guys really got me in the Christmas Spirit! I hope to post another video with the actual songs that each of them sing.
It's so cool. Each one has two songs, but when you put them next to each other the Light Show is connected! We will also be able to add Lucy (in stores now) and Snoopy (making his debut Nov. 27th). I don't usually do black Friday shopping but I will be making a stop in Hallmark because I just have to have them all now! The regular price on these was just under $30 each BUT if you buy ANY item in the store, you get them for $15.95. The items can even be of lesser value. So, we got some wrapping paper and A Charlie Brown Christmas (the book).
Y'all this (below) was Jonah's ACTUAL real time reaction to the tree tipping over in the picture. He's such a Charlie Brown. "Aw. It's dead." So, of course, right then and there we read the story.
The coolest thing about it though, is that the Peanuts story is one of hope, of Christ, and the true meaning of Christmas. My favorite line from the movie is Linus saying "Sure Charlie Brown, I can tell you what Christmas is all about." I hope that I can remember that this season and like I talked about in yesterday's post, I hope I can show my boys that Christmas is about receiving God's love, so that we can give it to others.
Thank you Hallmark for bringing such meaning to our Christmas season!
