As a blogger, full-time outside of the home working mama and part-time photographer I play many different roles throughout the day. I am never not thinking about one of these things and too often ideas, to-do lists, and very important thoughts get lost because I'm always on-the-go. On a typical weekday I spend over nine hours a day away from my home. Managing everything from the teeny tiny screen of my smart phone and random pieces of paper can be frustrating and you know what? I have never owned a tablet of my own. My husband has one that he uses mostly for reading and has recently begun letting our almost three year old use it for entertainment and learning, but I always thought man that would make my life a little easier. Enter the Trio AXS 7.85” 4G Tablet connected with T mobile 4g and 200MB of free data a month for only $179. Yes please and thank you Walmart!
I had the perfect opportunity this past weekend to give it a real try! We traveled to Starkville (my husbands's hometown and the home of my alma mater, Mississippi State University - Go Dawgs). Classes are back in session and SEC Football has begun. We typically go to a few games, go to more tailgating events and spend time with like-minded football fans while in Starkville - so it's a very exciting time of year to be in town. One thing about travelling on the weekend and staying at my in-laws is they don't currently have wifi. So, my usual evening email answering, post scheduling, and setting up social media is a no go - but with 200mb of free data, I can still do a few things between the family dinners and cowbell ringing.
I love being able to view my blog on the bigger screen! The buttons are so much easier to click. I can have multiple tabs open across the top and it just feels like I'm using a computer rather than trying to manage on my phone, but at the same time it's way more relaxing and flexible than a desktop or laptop would be. It has an android operating system, so I'd love to know what some of the apps are that other bloggers use on their tablets. I want to expand what I can do with it, like scheduling social media posts and even writing blog posts outside of the blogger site. Any tips?
I'm still running my photography business part-time and love being able to view galleries on the tablet. What a great way to advertise anywhere, meet with clients, and manage the emailing and social media pieces from my comfy chair (anywhere).
The tablet will warn you when your data is running out and give you the option of purchasing more. I really like the option of a day or week pass with a set prepaid amount, but there are plenty of options. Just a quick tip though, while setting it up, I'd use wifi if you can. I used a lot of this month's data downloading apps, etc during set up.
I've had a lot of fun discovering what all I can do with my tablet, but I know it's only a matter of time before those little fingers get it. Maybe then I'll finally read the magazine I carried around with me all weekend. . .
