wonderfully made.

A few weeks ago, I had my sister help me in getting some new photos of myself. It's important to have photos of yourself that look like you and that you actually like. I delete more photos of myself than anything else.

Today I'm taking this challenge to another level. I am challenging myself and posting it here for the world (or the 5 people that read this) to see.

Lately, I've been doing a lot of thinking and working on myself. Mostly my spiritual and emotional self. I've been feeding my brain and heart with God's word a lot more than I used to. It's made me constantly aware of what I'm listening to and what is coming out of my mouth. I admit I still have some work to do in that area but bad habits are hard to break sometimes.

Feeding my spiritual and emotional self has been so so good for me. I struggle a lot with worry and stress. The constant thinking about what can I do next? or what if this happens? Well, I can see it on my face. I am tired. I am not treating my physical body the way God would want me to treat it.

he made me wonderful.

It's hard for me to feel that. I'm not trying to be self-deprecating. I do that enough. Just honest. I put crap in my body every day. I survive on diet soda and junk food too often.

I don't USE my body the way it was made to be used.

I try to put on some cute clothes that cover me up and get me a few compliments. Those are nice...but I'm the worst at taking a compliment.

So, here it is. A time for change. Inside and Out.

Today, on Ash Wednesday, I am giving up soda for lent. I am committing before all of you to be a healthier me. I'm taking away temptations and in a few days I'll be starting a new diet. I'm taking the my choices away so that I can be more focused on feeling good and gaining energy. Along with taking off a few LBs around the middle so I can feel more confident in this body. I hope this journey brings my spiritual and physical body closer together and closer to God.

We take this lenten time to focus on God's teaching and sacrifice. This month with my #instavotion group I will be studying James. A book about facing trials and continuing to walk with God and not just talk about doing.

I'd love to know if there are any of you out there on a similar journey. If so, I made this little printable to help us encourage each other. Print it as many times as you'd like, pin it, post it. It's yours. I hope it's encouraging to some of you!

  4. It's so hard to make good choices about our bodies during this season of life, it's kinda hectic and stressful having a nearly 18month old!! I have up soda at the end of my pregnancy, it was such a good choice for me. I honestly don't miss it. For the first little while I drank a lot of sweet tea though ;) I love seeing your quiet time photos on Instagram! I'm so glad that's been working for you. I did Beth Moore's study of James last year. Loved it!! Such a rich book.

I love the communication and connections one simple comment on a blog can bring. Lifetime friendships are formed, grown, and flourished in this little box. So, basically the pressure is on ;)
